We heard a while back that GT40P/1046, in George Stauffer’s collection since the early 1980s, had been sold.  The price?  Well, there are a lot of rumours flying around, but the figure of just under $10 million keeps cropping up, so maybe that’s what it was.

Last time we saw 1046 was at the Road America gathering in 2009, where our picture below shows it just before the start of the big parade of GT40s.  Alas, 1046 wouldn’t start, and in the picture can be seen Lee Holman, giving some help and encouragement to GS.  

However, it was to no avail, and sadly we were deprived of seeing 1046 in action again.  So what future for 1046 now, in the hands of a new owner?  Well, we won’t be a bit surprised if it turns up at the Le Mans Classic this July!
